Julian SegalManaging Director and Chief Executive Officer
Julian Segal

Julian was appointed as Caltex's Managing Director and CEO from 1 July 2009. He is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Caltex Australia Group.
Julian was previously Managing Director and CEO at Incitec Pivot Limited, a leading global chemicals company, where he served from June 2005 to May 2009. Prior to Incitec Pivot, Julian spent six years at Orica in a number of senior management positions, including Manager of Strategic Market Planning, General Manager - Australia / Asia Mining Services, and Senior Vice President - Marketing for Orica Mining Services.

Julian holds a Bachelor of Science (Chemical Engineering) from the Israel Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Simon Hepworth Chief Financial Officer
Simon Hepworth

Simon was appointed to his present position in 1999. He is a Chartered Accountant and joined Ampol in 1996 as Group Financial Controller, after 10 years with Arthur Andersen. He was previously involved with Ampol as Audit Manager, and was involved in the merger with Caltex as Financial Adviser to Pioneer.
Simon attended the University of Sheffield where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in 1982. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Sydney. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Andy WalzGeneral Manager - Marketing
Andy Walz

Andy was appointed as General Manager Marketing on 1 April 2008. He joined Chevron in 1989 and has had 19 years of experience in the oil marketing industry.
His most recent positions were as Manager of Chevron's Burnaby refinery in British Columbia, Canada, Advisor to the President of Chevron Global Marketing and Regional Marketing Director for Latin America. Andy has a degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University.
Ken James General Manager - Supply and Distribution
Ken James

Ken has been undertaking the role of General Manager Supply and Distribution since 3 November 2008. In this role, he is responsible for the safe and efficient purchase and supply of crude oil and feedstocks to Caltex refineries, the planning and scheduling of refinery operations, product trading activities, the operation of Caltex pipelines and terminals, and the delivery of finished product to Caltex terminals and customers across Australia.
He is also currently Acting General Manager Refining. Ken joined Caltex in 1973 and was initially located at the Kurnell refinery in Sydney. He has served in a variety of refining, supply, planning and corporate roles in Australia, the USA and the Middle East. These include Superintendent Technical Services, Manager Analytical Studies, Assistant Regional Coordinator, Manager Performance and Planning, Manager Corporate Planning, and for the 3 years immediately prior to his current role, Manager Supply Operations.

He has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of NSW and is a Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
Simon Willshire General Manager - Human Resources
Simon Willshire

Simon joined Caltex on 13 November 2006.

He has more than 25 years' experience in Human Resources management with Shell, BHP, Levi Strauss and Chubb Australia. These roles have been in Australia, Asia and Europe.

In 1981, Simon joined Shell Australia, moved to BHP in 1985, then to Levi Strauss in 1988 and returned to Australia in 2004 to join Chubb Security. At Levi Strauss, Simon held positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in his appointment as Vice President Human Resources for Europe, Middle East and Africa. At Chubb, Simon was the Group Human Resources Director.

Simon graduated from the Flinders University of South Australia in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science and Sociology. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business (Industrial Relations) from Charles Sturt University, and was awarded the NSW IR Society prize for the most outstanding post graduate student in 1988.
Helen Conway General Manager - Office of the CEO
Helen Conway

Company Secretary and General Counsel

Helen joined Caltex on 13 September, 1999.
As General Manager of the Office of the CEO, Helen provides general support to the CEO and is responsible for government affairs and media, brand and communications, and internal audit. As Company Secretary, she is responsible for the corporate governance of the Caltex group of companies and, as General Counsel, is Caltex's chief lawyer.

Prior to joining Caltex, Helen was the General Counsel for Airservices Australia and Group Secretary and General Counsel for the NRMA Group. Before moving into corporate life, Helen worked as a lawyer in private practice, including seven years as a partner. Helen has held a large number of community-related and government appointments over the years, including the position of Senior Judicial Member of the New South Wales Equal Opportunity Tribunal.

Helen has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from Sydney University and is a Fellow of Chartered Secretaries Australia. She is currently a director of Sydney Ferries Corporation and has previously been a director of Catholic Healthcare Limited and Hawkesbury District Health Service Limited.

She received the award of Corporate Lawyer of the Year in 2005.

Mike McMenaminGeneral Manager - Strategy, Planning and Development
Mike McMenamin

Mike was appointed to this role in April 2008. He was previously Acting General Manager Marketing since April 2007, and Group Manager Strategy and Planning, appointed in 2004.

He has held a range of senior international executive positions in Chevron, having joined Caltex South Africa in 1992. Roles have included Country Chairman and General Manager Marketing with Caltex New Zealand, Director International Marketing with Texaco in the United States, General Manager Marketing Business Support and Planning with Caltex Corporation in Singapore, and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Caltex Central Africa Region.

A commerce graduate from the University of Cape Town with postgraduate qualifications in accountancy and tax law, Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in South Africa and then worked in their London office. He has attended the Aspen Institute Executive Leadership Programme.

Gary SmithGeneral Manager - Refining
Gary Smith

Gary joined Caltex in August 2009 as General Manager Refining. Gary is an Australian executive with 30 years experience in the oil, gas and chemical industries.
Gary was previously Chief Executive Officer of Golar LNG Limited based in London. Golar LNG is engaged in the operation and trading of liquid natural gas (LNG) carriers and the development of floating LNG production and re-gasification projects worldwide, Golar LNG is publicly listed on the NASDAQ and Oslo stock exchanges. Prior to Golar LNG, Gary spent 19 years with Shell and in this period held senior management positions which included General Manager, Commercial Shipping with Shell Trading based in London, Refinery Manager for Clyde Refinery with Shell Australia, Corporate Planning & Economics Manager for Shell Australia. In the period from 1978 to 1985 Gary worked for ICI and held various operational roles in Australia and the UK.

Gary holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of NSW, and a Master of Science, Chemical Engineering & Chemical Technology from the University of NSW.
