Caltex Australia drives safety
further
At Caltex Australia, safety is what we're driving at. Safety is at
the heart of everything we do. We want to ensure that all our
people return home safely every day - employees, contractors,
franchisees, and resellers - whether they're on the road, or in the
workplace.
The Caltex commitment to driver safety
Caltex proudly supports numerous driver safety initiatives,
including:
- Fleet Safety Coalition
- Australian Road Safety Awards
- Fatality Free Friday
- DriverSafety.com.au National Driver Training Program
Australian Road Safety Awards
Caltex is the major sponsor of the Australian Road Safety Awards,
an initiative of the Fatality Free Friday Road Safety Foundation.
The awards are a powerful motivational tool for reducing road
trauma in Australia. They recognise the achievements of leading
road safety organisations and their innovative approaches toward
this goal..
Fatality Free Friday sponsorship
Caltex Australia proudly supports the safety of Australian road
users through our sponsorship of Fatality Free Friday. This award
winning road safety campaign was founded in 2007 and Australia's
only national community-based road safety initiative.
Fatality Free Friday aims to improve road safety awareness, enhance
drive education and reduce the impact of road trauma.
Proudly supporting the Fleet Safety
Coalition
Caltex recognises the growing importance of work- related road
safety and is proud to be involved with the Fleet Safety
Coalition.
Caltex employees complete National Drive Training
Program
Approximately 1000 Caltex employees have completed driver training
since the launch of the DriverSafety.com.au National Driver
Training Program at Caltex Australia in 2008. Combining online,
simulator, in-car and classroom tuition, this unique program
improves drivers' skills in many critical areas. It gives drivers a
greater understanding of vehicle dynamics and biomechanics of
driving.
P Drivers Project
Caltex is proud to support the P Drivers Project - one of the
largest research studies into driver behaviour change ever
undertaken. It is a large-scale road safety research project aimed
at encouraging new P plate drivers aged 17 to 22 in Victoria and
New South Wales to change their behaviour and ultimately save
lives.
P-plate drivers are three times more likely to be involved in a
casualty crash than more experienced drivers and they are most at
risk in the first six to 12 months after getting their Ps.
Known as MyLiveTribe to participants, the P Drivers Project trials
a driver education program which was developed with extensive help
from local and international experts to see if it can reduce P
driver crashes. Participants are involved in group discussions and
an on-road coaching session to influence their behaviour while
driving. In addition to gaining valuable road safety skills,
participants will be rewarded for their time with prizes such as
(Insert company financial or in-kind sponsorship), reloadable
EFTPOS cards, movie tickets, Strike Bowling vouchers, Caltex fuel
cards and the ultimate prize, a chance to win a Toyota Yaris.
The project aims to recruit 26,400 newly licensed Victorian P plate
drivers and 1,600 from New South Wales, but attaining these numbers
is a massive challenge. (Insert company name) encourages all new P
drivers to take part in this world-first Project, a project which
will help save lives.
