Caltex welcomes NSW Government commitment to
biofuels mandate
December 03, 2010
Caltex welcomes the commitment by Minister Tony Kelly to continue
implementation of the New South Wales biofuels mandate legislation,
although it has been necessary for him to delay the implementation
schedule for ethanol because of a near-term shortage of
supply.
The Minister's announcement strikes a reasonable balance between
supporting investment and recognising the practicalities of the
supply outlook.
Caltex has invested about $16 million in ethanol terminal storage
and blending facilities and service station conversions. It is
important that any adjustments to regulation as much as possible
maintain investment certainty and avoid undermining investments
already made.
Caltex is committed to providing a range of quality fuels to
customers that include biofuels blends.
