Des King
Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer
Des was appointed as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer from 1 May 2006.
Before joining Caltex Australia, he was responsible for the management of the 220,000 barrels a day Chevron Corp. Pembroke refinery in Wales. He has previously held senior roles in Chevron including General Manager Strategic Planning responsible for developing the corporate strategy for both oil and gas exploration and production, refining and marketing. Other previous roles included general management responsibility for technology marketing. Des joined Chevron in 1981 after working as Professor of Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He has a degree in chemical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Simon Hepworth
Chief Financial Officer
Simon was appointed to his present position in 1999. He is a Chartered Accountant and joined Ampol in 1996 as Group Financial Controller, after 10 years with Arthur Andersen. He was previously involved with Ampol as Audit Manager, and was involved with the merger with Caltex as Financial Adviser to Pioneer.
Simon attended the University of Sheffield where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in 1982. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Sydney. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Helen Conway
General Manager – Office of the CEO
Company Secretary & General Counsel
Helen joined Caltex on 13 September, 1999.
As General Manager of the Office of the CEO, Helen provides general support to the CEO and is responsible for government and public affairs, media relations, internal and external communications, sponsorships and internal audit. As Company Secretary, she is responsible for the corporate governance of the Caltex group of companies and, as General Counsel, is Caltex’s chief lawyer.
Prior to joining Caltex, Helen was the General Counsel for Airservices Australia and Group Secretary and General Counsel for the NRMA Group. Before moving into corporate life, Helen worked as a lawyer in private practice including seven years as a partner. Helen has held a large number of community-related and government appointments over the years including the position of Senior Judicial Member of the New South Wales Equal Opportunity Tribunal.
Helen has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from Sydney University and is a Fellow of Chartered Secretaries Australia. She is currently a director of Sydney Ferries Corporation and has previously been a director of Catholic Healthcare Limited and Hawkesbury District Health Service Limited. She received the award of Corporate Lawyer of the Year in 2005.

Alex Strang
General Manager Supply & Distribution
Alex has held General Manager roles in Caltex since 1998, in areas of manufacturing and planning and supply.
Alex joined the Australian Oil Refining (AOR) as a Process Engineer at the Kurnell Refinery in February 1972 and worked in a number of engineering and production roles in Kurnell and New York. From 1982-1997 he worked in various finance, project and planning roles in Sydney and Dallas.
Alex has a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Business from Charles Sturt University and a Master's Degree in Applied Finance from Macquarie University. He is also a qualified CPA.
Alex is a member of the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers, CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also the Chair of Caltex Australia Superannuation Board of Trustees.

Andy Walz
General Manager Marketing
Andy was appointed as General Manager Marketing on 1 April 2008.
He joined Chevron in 1989 and has had 19 years of experience in the oil marketing industry. His most recent positions were as Manager of Chevron's Burnaby refinery in British Columbia, Canada, Advisor to the President of Chevron Global Marketing and Regional Marketing Director for Latin America.
Andy has a degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University.

Brian Waywell
General Manager Refining
Brian is responsible for the safe and productive operation of the company's refineries. He was appointed to this position on 1 August 2006.
Brian has over 37 years experience in the oil industry in North America, the Middle East and Asia. He joined Gulf Canada in 1968 and stayed with Gulf through its transition to PetroCanada. Brian had positions of increasing responsibility over his 23 year career with Gulf/PetroCanada including Director Strategic Planning, General Manager Taylor Refinery and General Manager Edmonton Refinery.
In 1991, Brian joined Bahrain Petroleum Company Refinery as the Deputy Chief Executive and then was appointed as CEO in 1996. In 1998 he moved to Thailand to the role of CEO of the Caltex-affiliated Alliance Refinery in Thailand. In that role, the two refineries that were linked to form the Alliance Refinery reported to Brian. Since 2005, Brian has been based in Singapore as the General Manager JV Refineries with Chevron overseeing many of Chevron’s refinery investments in the Asian region

Mike McMenamin
Group Manager Strategy, Planning & Development
Mike was appointed to this role in April 2008. He was previously Acting General Manager Marketing since April 2007, and Group Manager Strategy and Planning, appointed in 2004
He has held a range of senior international executive positions in Chevron, having joined Caltex South Africa in 1992. Roles have included Country Chairman and General Manager Marketing with Caltex New Zealand, Director International Marketing with Texaco in the United States, General Manager Marketing Business Support and Planning with Caltex Corporation in Singapore, and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Caltex Central Africa Region.
A commerce graduate from the University of Cape Town with postgraduate qualifications in accountancy and tax law, Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte in South Africa and then worked in their London office. He has attended the Aspen Institute Executive Leadership Programme

Peter Wilkinson
Group Manager Operational Excellence & Risk
Peter joined Caltex on 11 July 2005 as Group Manager Operational Excellence and Risk.
Prior to that, he was Project Manager for Australia's National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority on secondment from the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for three years. He has worked in safety management systems in a number of industries in the UK, including the railway industry and upstream oil and gas industry.
Peter is an honours graduate in international relations and geography and has a postgraduate qualification in health & safety and is a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety.

Simon Willshire
Group Manager Human Resources
Simon joined Caltex on 13 November 2006 as Group Manager Human Resources.
He has more than 25 years experience in Human Resources management with Shell, BHP, Levi Strauss and Chubb Australia. These roles have been in Australia, Asia and Europe.
In 1981 Simon joined Shell Australia, moved to BHP in 1985, then to Levi Strauss in 1988 and returned to Australia in 2004 to join Chubb Security. At Levi Strauss, Simon held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in his appointment as Vice President Human Resources for Europe, Middle East and Africa. At Chubb, Simon was the Group Human Resources Director.
