The Lytton Story
The Lytton refinery is strategically located on 550 acres at the mouth of the Brisbane River, giving the refinery with close connections to the river and the open sea.
Home to the historic Fort Lytton, and once used as an airstrip by Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith in the pioneering days of Australian aviation, the area was quickly transformed following the official “ground breaking” ceremony by the Queensland Premier, Mr Nicklin, on 9 August 1963. The refinery came on stream in 1965, and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2005.
Almost 70 per cent of finished petroleum products are transported via pipeline to South East Queensland. The remainder goes by ship to ports as far north as Cairns. From terminals, the product is trucked to service stations and finally to our customers.
The refinery and its products continue to contribute to the growth of the Queensland economy, enhancing the lifestyle and supporting significant employment opportunities.
