Our Commitment
Caltex Australia Limited seeks to act as a good corporate citizen at all times and undertakes contributions and sponsorship programs as part of its partnership with the community.
Sponsorships support major community activities where it is possible to achieve strong recognition of the company's brand and involvement with the event.
Caltex views its contributions and sponsorships as long-term investments in the company's commitment to the community. The return from the programs comes from the enhancement of community relationships made possible through work and communications with local community members and their representatives, government, customers and other stakeholders.
Application and approval procedures
The Caltex contributions and sponsorship programs are highly selective.
There must be a tangible return to the community and appropriate recognition for the company for any proposal to be considered.
As a general rule, the company sets aside funds each year for selected projects covering:

A small number of high profile sponsorship activities, generally national in scope and designed to meet specific objectives |

Community and environmental program support in areas relevant to the business, particularly in the vicinity of major facilities such as the Kurnell and Lytton refineries |

Education & community contributions and sponsorships relevant to the company's marketing and retail activities. |
What will be supported
Caltex seeks to support specific projects which meet an important community need and which demonstrate excellence, defined community and corporate benefits and value for money in the following target areas:

Research, community education, air quality, community volunteers, conservation, marine ecology, wetlands and endangered species . |

Engineering, economics, petroleum
industry, social policy, business analysis and research. |

Engineering, finance, management,
information systems and science. Activities supporting
the development and employment of young people. |
| Health and Safety |
Preventative health promotion, safety
projects and emergency services. |
| Community Support |
Family support, volunteering, job
creation and equal employment opportunity. |

Performing arts, particularly initiatives
with high profile recognition and a business contact program. |
| Charity |
Building a better community, education
programs supporting self-help. |
What will NOT be supported

Requests for Caltex's support will be
considered at any time from February to December. Please allow
adequate lead time so that the following can occur:

You must provide a written request which
clearly describes the proposed project and budget.

Organisations with proposals that meet the criteria outlined
here are encouraged to call
the appropriate refinery or corporate office to discuss
project proposals and to seek advice about the guidelines.
Please note we are only able to support a small number of new
projects each year. It will not be possible to meet the needs
of most of the worthwhile project opportunities brought to our
attention.
Low level sponsorships
These type of sponsorships are
conducted through the company's market regions, as part of our
Local Site Marketing (LSM) program.
As such, application should be made direct to your local store
manager. This type of sponsorship relates to local marketing
initiatives, such as local clubs, school and community organisations.
Examples of projects supported by Caltex
Australia
The Starlight Foundation
Caltex provides assistance for the foundation's
dedication to helping brighten the lives of seriously ill children
through wish granting, Starlight express rooms and more. Caltex
supports the work of the Starlight Foundation through sponsorship
of the national Star Day campaign and assisting in wish granting
and fundraising for the organisation at a national and local
level.

Caltex Best All Rounder Award
Taken up by more than 96 per cent of Australia's secondary schools, this program provides awards to Year 12 students who have demonstrated outstanding all-round achievement at school and in the broader community.
Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO)
Caltex recognises excellence in the performing
arts through sponsorship of the Australian Chamber Orchestra
and its national tours program.

Caltex and Rotary Club of Sydney Awards for Innovation in Teaching
Each year these awards recognise and reward three New South Wales teachers who have developed innovative educational programs in their schools. The winning teachers each receive a return overseas airfare to visit an agreed educational institution and an allowance for accommodation and travelling expenses.
Ronald McDonald Houses
Fuel sponsorship to assist Ronald McDonald
House charities at hospitals throughout Australia helps the
families of sick children and complements Caltex's business
association with McDonald's Australia Limited.
NSW Surf Life Saving
Fuel sponsorship assists NSW Surf Life
Saving in its work in coastal waters around the Kurnell Peninsula
in New South Wales where the company has refinery operations.
Environment, Youth and Sporting
Organisations
The Caltex refinery at Lytton in Queensland
assists local environment, youth and sporting organisations
including Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers, Australian
Marine Conservation Society (Moreton Bay Branch), Bayside Environment
Network, The Rivermouth Action Group, Wynnum District Rugby
Union Club, Rainbow Bay Surf Life Saving Club and Wynnum Soccer
Club. Lytton refinery also assists 14 local schools through
a schools support and education program that aims to encourage
interest in science. The refinery also provides an annual grant
to the schools' libraries.
