About the award
Now in its twenty-third year, the Caltex Best All Rounder Award is one of Australia's most prestigious secondary school awards. Each year it is presented to thousands of final year students around the country acknowledging their all-round contributions to their schools and communities.
Information about the awards along with winning student’s packs were mailed out to schools with a year 12 student group at the end of August.
Schools that elect to confer the award choose a Caltex Best All Rounder from their final year class and present the award to that student, usually at year-end presentation celebrations.

A national writing competition for the winners
Caltex Best All Rounder Award recipients are invited to enter a national writing competition that is open only to winners of the award. Students receive an entry form to the competition in their winner’s pack.
In 2008, entrants are asked to submit a compelling written argument why Caltex should donate $1,000 to an Australian charity or community organisation the student is involved in or supports. A judging panel will select five winners who will each receive $1,000 for the organisation or charity mentioned in their piece, along with $500 for themselves and $500 for their schools. Entries need to be submitted by 5 January 2009 and the winners will be notified by 4 February 2009.
