Why Caltex

Caltex has been refining petroleum products in Australia for over 50 years, and is considered to be an icon
in the Australian fuel and convenience industries.

Caltex is the only oil refining and marketing company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

By complementing our petroleum products with an ever evolving world-class convenience retail offer, Caltex retains its reputation for quality and service vital for remaining a market leader in the petroleum and convenience retail sector.

In addition to an extensive convenience retail network, Caltex markets to commercial and industrial customers in the mining, industrial, aviation and transport sectors. The company also manufactures and markets specialty products such as bitumen, gases and waxes and crop protection products.

Caltex’s activities in these markets allows the company to continue to develop its products to the highest standards, as well as drive customer experience so that Caltex is the first choice when a convenience or fuel purchase is required.

StarCard is the fuel card solution offered by Caltex. StarCard customers can use their cards to purchase petrol and convenience retail store items. StarCard is primarily used by Small to Medium Enterprises (SME), Corporates, Fleet Providers and Government Agencies (Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade, and Area Health Services). In addition to StarCard, Caltex markets a gift card called StarCash. These electronic pre-paid gift cards can be used by customers wanting to provide a gift, or by businesses wanting to promote their items, as incentives or rewards for their staff or as prize giveaways, all of which continue to drive consumers into our convenience retail stores.

Caltex is committed to franchising with franchised stores making up over 80% of our convenience retail network. The balance of the network is operated by Calstores P/L as company stores - By having a company controlled network, Caltex can develop, test and refine new products, systems and convenience retail offers, as well as gain an understanding into emerging consumer trends and associated costs of operation. Our company owned stores demonstrate our commitment to the Caltex convenience store network. They also provide a solid training ground for our next generation business consultants.

Caltex’s company operated stores (Calstores)are located in most markets in which we operate.
