Third year V8 Supercar driver Renee Gracie will enjoy continued association with Caltex Australia in 2017, with the local fuel retailer continuing as naming rights backer of the 22-year-old's Dunlop Super2 Championship entry.
Fielded by Image Racing, Gracie will contest the newly named championship in an ex-GRM built 'car of the future' (COF) specification VF Commodore, driven to eighth place in 2016 by debutant Richard Muscat, and will line up alongside recent signing Jack Perkins in identical ex-GRM chassis.
Supercars driver Renee Gracie said: "I am genuinely excited to head into this year with Caltex right behind me and even more upbeat about having identical equipment to those around me.
“While last year was difficult with two different specifications of car being allowed into the category, I’m really looking forward to the year ahead where someone of the calibre of Jack Perkins is alongside me. It will be extremely valuable.
“I've already driven the Ford and Nissan COF cars and know how much better they handle, and can't wait to get into the Commodore in preparation for the opening round at Clipsal.
“This year is a critical one for me and I'm extremely proud to have the continued support of a premium and iconic brand in Caltex Australia.”
Caltex Executive General Manager Commercial, Bruce Rosengarten said that Caltex is thrilled to be continuing its support of an up and coming motorsport figure in Renee Gracie.
"Renee is an exciting, run-away motorsport talent, and we’re looking forward to being trackside with her throughout 2017,” said Mr Rosengarten.
“She has been a brilliant brand ambassador for Caltex over the last year. Her dedication and passion for the sport - particularly as one of the few professional female drivers to be involved in Australian motorsport - has been unwavering and we wish her the very best for the upcoming season.”
The opening round of the Dunlop Super2 Championship will take place at the Adelaide Parklands Circuit over the weekend of March 2-5.
